These are the rule deltas that students hit. They are not legal advice — see the official source for your situation.
Rule 01
Years on a §16b student residence permit count toward the 5-year naturalisation requirement, but they do not count toward the 7-year integration exception. Plan your graduation date and your application date together.
Rule 02
BAföG counts as proof of financial self-sufficiency for the naturalisation application. Bring the current Bescheid and a recent bank statement. The Amt can ask about gaps in the funding history.
Rule 03
The minimum for naturalisation is B1. B2 or C1 shortens the naturalisation period to 7 years (C1 to 6 years 8 months). TestDaF (TDN 3 or higher) and telc Deutsch B1/B2 are accepted alongside the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate must be valid at the time of application.
